AI in the service of collection documentation: what are the objectives, what are the operational challenges, what is the assessment?

Thursday 26 March 2026 | 10:30 - Delorme Conference Room
The Louvre and TEKLIA present a discussion on the contributions of Artificial Intelligence to the processing and utilization of collection documentation, based on a concrete case study.
In 2025, the implementation of a data extraction project for documents from the Department of Islamic Art provided the Louvre with an opportunity to experiment with AI on its documentary corpora. Beyond the project's specific goals, this test represents a more exploratory approach.
What are the steps involved in such a project, and what is the role of subject-matter expertise? What are the organizational and technical challenges? A review of the project and a forward-looking perspective on the opportunities offered by the creation of the Digital Innovation Hub within the museum.
