The value of the showcase standard

Thursday 26 March 2026 | 12:30 - Soufflot pitch room
Audience: Anyone or any organization in charge of cultural property displayed or to be exhibited in showcases, manufacturers, project owners and managers, and professionals involved in scenography.
Summary: While the functions of a display case are well-established, characterizing their performance—the central theme of this standard—remains a complex task. The guidance provided relies on a shared vocabulary, methodology, and common criteria to identify the information to be discussed, validated, and transmitted (including ergonomic aspects).
Benefits of the Standard:
  • To demonstrate the growing importance of the showcase in a context of energy sobriety or regarding the additional benefits it provides to the gallery (conservation, protection, etc.);
  • To facilitate technical exchanges between all stakeholders involved in a project for designing new display cases;
  • To assist in performance characterization, ensuring the showcase is tailored to previously identified needs.
Presentation Objectives: The aim is to present:
  • Different approaches to characterizing or verifying showcase performance;
  • The tools available;
  • Key performance indicators.
