03/26/2025 03:30 PM - Gabriel Conference Room
More than 360 establishments under the “Musée de France” designation are registered in rural areas (according to the INSEE definition). These cultural venues preserve very diverse collections, carry out numerous actions in close proximity to their territory and constantly reinvent themselves to be in touch with contemporary issues. This round table aims to share this richness and dynamism of rural museums, through concrete examples of projects carried out by these key players in local cultural life throughout France. It is part of the Spring of Rurality, a program supported by the Ministry of Culture and accompanied by an action plan, including the publication in May 2025 of a national guide to rural museums in digital format, which aims to raise awareness of these establishments and their collections.
