The 3D museum, Aliénor, museums in Nouvelle Aquitaine

3D Museum is the first virtual museum in which the visitor is immersed in a 3-dimensional environment. He or she can discover a selection of objects from the collections of some forty museums in Nouvelle Aquitaine. This facility offers an experience that is unique in France, whereby the visitor can observe and manipulate the works from every angle.

This virtual museum, outside the walls, adopts the codes of video games, enabling it to dispense with all the constraints specific to the physical buildings of a traditional museum. The 3D Museum invites you, in a fun way, to discover the works in accordance with your wishes, and thus create a bespoke visit.

The 3D Museum’s aspiration is to facilitate dialogue between the works by revealing the masterpieces (Camille Claudel’s bronze, Émile Gallé’s cup, etc.), specific regional features (Pierre Loti’s house, the Comic Strip museum, Cognac Arts, traditional headdresses, Saintonge earthenware, etc.), the treasures of the network’s museums (these include a collection of Oceanian objects second only to that held at the Quai Branly). The purpose is also to reveal the museums’ great diversity: fine arts, natural history, science and technology, comic strips, automotive, etc.

By enabling them to discover some of the museums’ gems, the intention is clearly to then encourage visitors, whoever they may be, to continue the experience by visiting the museums in the region.
