MuMo, Mobile Museum, itinerant facilitator
Between 2011 and 2016, the Mobile Museum, founded by Ingrid Brochard, went to meet more than 100,000 children across Europe and Africa.
In 2017, a new travelling museum was conceived by designer Matali Crasset. MuMo 2 is crisscrossing the French regions with an exhibition from the Regional Contemporary Art Collection belonging to each region that it visits. Through this exhibition, the Mobile Museum offers education, visits, workshops and meetings in the rural and peri-urban areas that are its primary targets.
While the Regional Contemporary Art Collection undertakes exhibition curation, loan and control of the works, the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate coordinates the regional targeting strategy with the operation’s other partners, in “white areas” and “grey areas”, according to the extent of the cultural offering.
Bespoke educational operations are undertaken to resonate with the identity, experience and heritage of each of these regions.
The PSA Foundation, in association with the first MuMo and then MuMo 2, particularly supported it across the geographical and cultural void. Major Sponsor of the Mobile Museum’s 2018 tour of Eastern France, the PSA Foundation allowed the museum lorry to operate on factory sites in Trémery and Metz, to meet employees and their families.
