European Cultural Heritage Year and the threat to heritage

The European Parliament has declared 2018 to be European Cultural Heritage Year. New technologies, such as 3D digital models based on images captured by drones and virtual reality, are essential tools for raising public awareness of the issues related to threats to our heritage. Examples relating to Palmyra, Mosul, and many others will be examined by the panel members.

Yves Ubelmann, Chief Executive of ICONEM, David Vuillaume, Director of the German Museums Association and Chair of NEMO, Laurent Lévi-Strauss, Council Member of EUROPA NOSTRA and Anne-Catherine Robert-Hauglustaine, Professor at Paris 1 Sorbonne and former Director General of ICOM, will suggest and discuss concrete examples of achievements in digital technology.
