The hidden potential of museum tickets

The ticket is the first or even the only physical indication of a cultural visit. Proof of payment, it is also a token for admission to the premises, a marker of the relationship with the institution or even a souvenir for the visitor. Yet today, this small piece of paper often has only a symbolic, ephemeral value. At a time when the quest for new sources of funding is becoming critical and when competition between institutions is increasing, what are the prospects for the ticket’s future? How to reinvent it in order to reinforce the connection with the visitor, enrich the visitor experience and even unlock new resources?

Gwenaëlle de Kerret, Semiologist and Audience Research Director at SemioTiPS, and Philippe Zavier, Head of Dot Technologie, a ticketing company, will present the initial results of a study into new market trends and the expectations of visitors and professionals to reinvent the admission ticket.
